Mitch & Mama’s Coffee Bar is more than just a good cup of coffee. It is a place where diversity is not only embraced, but celebrated. Mitch & Mama’s Coffee Bar opened in March of 2017. Mitch and his Mama started this business after Mitch struggled to find successful employment. Mitch and his mom decided that opening a business would be a great way to teach life skills for employment and utilize his social personality.
Charity (AKA Mama) has working in the developmental service filed for over 17 years. She felt a business would be a great opportunity for her son and others in the community. Together this can create many job opportunities and skills for so many.
Mitchell (AKA Mitch) was diagnosed with Williams Syndrome at 3 months old. He is a very social, loving young man. Mitchell enjoys making people smile. He has a true gift of making others feel loved and accepted. The coffee bar is a place where people can embrace one another and staff can have a sense of belonging and purpose in their lives.
Currently Mama runs the shop full time and Mitch works every day after school and on Saturdays. They also have several volunteers that help out at the Coffee Bar each week.
Mitch and his Mama plan to expand in the future and open a full café in Listowel. Our dream is to be able to pay our employees and teach the skills needed to work at our café.
